Papal Visit
You say that you are Catholic
And bear allegiance unto Rome
Well do you regard this sinner
Any less than one called Pope?
If I understand correctly
The words in scripture writ
Our God he has no favorites
For all you see is his
Yes I know some say his holiness
Is Christ’s representative on earth
But has he had his mind renewed
Is he of second birth?
Well if he is then surely
He will rightly say
That he is one no greater
Than this sinner any day
It seems to this observer
That his followers have in mind
That the Pope is rather special
Than those he leaves behind
But I’ve got this knowing feeling
As I live by what’s unseen
That in spirit there is no difference
And naught can come between
And this is not by any work
Not by any work of mine
But by the truth of God’s creation
By which all is divine
If you judge me by my errors
You’ll not live by what’s unseen
Giving credence to my worldliness
And by worldliness deceived
